2022 Jeep Plug-In Hybrid SUVs

We’ve also got great news for Jeep fans: the American manufacturer is surprising us with brand-new 2022 plug-in hybrid SUVs!

It was only a few months ago that the Jeep Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid made its impressive debut, and we are all happy to welcome the Grand Cherokee in its new plug-in hybrid version!

Available soon at your Jeep dealer on the South Shore of Montreal, the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe will be equipped with a 2.0 L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine with 270 horsepower, which is paired with a 114-horsepower electric motor. This combined powertrain delivers 375 net horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. Even better, it also offers an all-electric range of roughly 40 kilometers and boasts a towing capacity of 6,000 pounds.

Unfortunately, Jeep has not released a lot of information yet on the upcoming 2022 Jeep Wrangler 4xe. Its previous model however, the 2021 version, offers an all-electric range of roughly 35 km and its powertrain generates 375 net horsepower. It also offers a towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.

The Jeep Compass 4xe and Renegade 4xe are coming, but not this year

Jeep continues its evolution towards electric models, and we expect many more plug-in vehicles to come to the North American market in the near future.

The popular Jeep Compass 4xe is already being sold in Europe. According to European figures, its hybrid engine generates a maximum output of 240 horsepower and offers a range of up to 50 km in all-electric mode.

The same is true for the Jeep Renegade 4xe, which offers similar numbers to the Compass in its European version. However, it is unclear if these two models will offer the same capabilities after making the jump to the North American market.

The Electric Transformation of Jeep

These models are only the first steps that Jeep is making towards electrification, and more and more vehicles will begin using electric or hybrid powertrains.

In fact, Stellantis (the corporation that owns Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM and many others) has announced it will invest $35.5 billion in electrified vehicles by 2025. It will also announce the introduction of more than two dozen low-emission vehicles, which are either redesigns of existing models or brand new vehicles.

One of them is the Wrangler Magneto, an all-electric model set to become the manufacturer’s very first 100% electric SUV.

Among the many plans hatching at Stellantis, we know of the upcoming all-electric RAM 1500 truck. It is expected to release in 2024, and there is no doubting it will be a huge hit with truck fanatics worldwide.
